John Buttigieg – Founder | Managing Director & Head of Construction

As Founder and Managing Director, John is the driving force behind Savvy Homes, leading both the strategic direction of the business and the delivery of each custom home.

Since establishing Savvy Homes in 2009, he has guided its growth from modest residential builds to architecturally designed homes and complex high-end projects. Over this time, John has built a strong reputation for delivering custom homes defined by quality, precision, and enduring design.

As Managing Director and Head of Construction, John remains closely involved in every stage of the building journey — from initial client consultations, design feasibility, and estimating, through to construction and final delivery. John brings a hands-on, collaborative approach to each build, working closely with clients, architects, and consultants to ensure each home is thoughtfully resolved, functional and aligned with the client’s vision.

Throughout construction, John maintains a strong on-site presence, overseeing trades, managing site operations, and ensuring every detail meets the high standards that Savvy Homes is known for. His thorough understanding of construction, combined with a strong focus on quality and compliance, ensures consistent, high-level outcomes across all projects.

Alongside project delivery, John oversees the financial management and overall performance of the business, working closely with advisors to support its continued growth. With over 25 years of industry experience, he has established himself as a trusted and reliable builder, delivering homes for more than 200 clients.

Known for his integrity, strong work ethic and attention to detail, John continues to shape both the projects delivered and the client experience that defines Savvy Homes. His commitment to leadership and excellence has been instrumental in positioning the company as a trusted name in Melbourne’s custom residential building industry.

As Director of Operations & Marketing Strategy, Monica is instrumental in shaping the Savvy Homes brand and the experience it delivers.

Driven by a passion for design, communication, and creativity, she brings a considered and client-focused perspective to the building process — ensuring every project is not only well executed, but thoughtfully presented and seamlessly delivered.

Monica leads the planning and execution of all marketing and communications, overseeing the company’s digital presence, content strategy, and overall brand direction. Her focus is on ensuring every touchpoint reflects the quality, professionalism, and attention to detail Savvy Homes is known for.

From first impressions through to project completion, Monica is responsible for shaping the end-to-end client journey — ensuring a clear, consistent, and highly considered experience at every stage.

Alongside her marketing leadership, Monica oversees the operational framework of the business, including systems, compliance, workplace health and safety, recruitment, team development and internal processes. Her structured and detail-driven approach ensures each project is supported by strong foundations and delivered with consistency and care.

Working closely with the Managing Director, she also contributes to broader business strategy and long-term planning, supporting the continued growth and direction of Savvy Homes.

Known for her ability to combine creativity with technical precision, Monica plays a key role in shaping both how the business operates and how it is experienced—ensuring Savvy Homes delivers not only exceptional homes, but a refined and seamless client experience.

Nicki Moore - Client Services & Project Coordinator

Nicki has been an integral part of Savvy Homes since its early growth, bringing over 25 years of experience across business administration, management, and the residential building industry.

With a background that includes working alongside volume builders and property development groups, she offers a well-rounded understanding of both the operational and client-facing aspects of construction.

As Client Services & Project Coordinator, Nicki plays a central role in the day-to-day coordination of projects and communication across the business. She is often the first point of contact for new enquiries, providing a welcoming and professional introduction to Savvy Homes while supporting clients throughout their journey.

Working closely with the Managing Director, Nicki oversees project scheduling and coordination, ensuring trades, timelines, and key milestones are aligned to support a smooth construction process. She also manages essential administrative and compliance requirements, including council approvals, documentation, and project certification.

Nicki’s consistent communication, attention to detail, and calm, organised approach ensure that every client feels informed, supported, and confident at each stage of their project. Her role is fundamental to delivering the seamless and considered experience Savvy Homes is known for.


 
 
Stephen Buttigieg - Site Supervisor Savvy Homes

Stephen Buttigieg - site supervisor

With over 40 years’ experience in residential construction, Stephen has been involved in many facets of the building industry, from hands-on trade experience and project management to mentoring and training. Prior to commencing at Savvy Homes, Stephen spent over 40 years running his own bricklaying company and has been a licenced home builder since 1987.

Stephen utilised his expertise and experience as a TAFE educator and continued to use his training experience when he joined Savvy Homes as a Team Mentor and Site Supervisor. Both roles require him to work strategically with Project Managers and contractors to ensure that projects run smoothly and that sites are safe and secure. Stephen oversees hand-over fit-outs and also acts as Maintenance Manager for completed projects.


 
 

Nathan Martin - Site Coordination Manager

Nathan is responsible for the on-site execution of Savvy Homes projects, taking responsibility for the coordination and delivery of scheduled works.

As Site Coordination Manager, he oversees daily site operations, directing trades, managing workflow, and ensuring each stage of construction progresses efficiently and to the required standard.

He is responsible for maintaining build quality through regular inspections and oversight, ensuring all work aligns with Savvy Homes’ expectations for craftsmanship, detail, and finish.

Nathan works closely with the Construction Manager to coordinate on-site operations. He provides clear direction and support to site staff, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring staged works are executed on schedule with precision and quality.

A strong focus is placed on site standards, with Nathan ensuring all projects are consistently well-managed, safe, and professionally presented throughout the build process. His structured and proactive approach plays a critical role in delivering homes that meet both client expectations and Savvy Homes’ high standards.

Dependable and solutions-focused, Nathan is a key figure in the successful delivery of each project, ensuring every home is built with consistency, control, and attention to detail.


 
 

ZIYAD KhAN - Site Operations & Construction Support

Ziyad plays an important role in supporting the day-to-day operations of Savvy Homes’ construction sites, ensuring each project is maintained to the highest standards of organisation, safety, and presentation.

Working closely with the site manager, trades, and the broader construction team, he assists in the coordination and execution of on-site activities—helping ensure materials, equipment, and work areas are prepared efficiently and maintained throughout each stage of the build.

His role spans a wide range of responsibilities, from assisting skilled trades and managing site logistics to maintaining cleanliness, safety compliance, and overall site readiness. This attention to detail is essential in supporting a smooth construction process and upholding the quality Savvy Homes is known for.

Ziyad also contributes to the finishing stages of each project, assisting with final site presentation, protection of completed works, and preparation for handover—ensuring every home is delivered in a clean, organised, and client-ready condition.
